    NEW TO "REMOTE" STOKER MONITORING

you have a several options when it comes to remote management. 1st obvious is to use Remote Desktop if you have XP on your local computer. You'll have to forward port 3389 to that computer to work outside your local network. Of course you'll have to make sure remote desktop will run on your...

    Stoker Food Temps

I seem to recall that the food probes are about the same. We calibrate at 212, anything higher than that is burned to a crisp anyway. It is then essentially, moisture free.

Stoker and Network Connetion around blocked Port 80

I can't answer for the WSM but generally speaking, with a fan blown system, less is better and will produce less temperature fluctuations. A larger vent at top lets more heat escape, and causes more fluctuations but will produce more more smoke.

Stoker and Network Connetion around blocked Port 80

Good point Amir, I get a lot of comments when I get a text message from my port butts while on the golf course, some of them not so flattering, but mostly they are very impressed.

Stoker and Network Connetion around blocked Port 80

You need 3 things working to be able to do this. 1. Port translation. If your ISP blocks port 80, you need this, some routers don't have it. This is a router feature that translates a port request on the outside of the home network, say 8081, and translates it to the internal network port 80...

    Stoker HELP!!!!!!

I'm not at all familiar with your type of cooker so this may or may not be "right on." A lot of folks, including myself, feel it's best to use a heat shield for "low & slow" cooking, aka indirect heat. Some use foil, some a water pan, and my personal favorite, a 12" Terra cotta platter covered...

    Stoker HELP!!!!!!

79 and not moving? Try plugging it into one of the other ports. Turn the unit off first, plug it in, then turn it back on.

Good plan, just yell back if you have any issues setting up the wireless.

    INFO ON STOKER WIRELESS SYSTEM

Not unless you put it right next to the house. Keep it 10' away and you'll be fine. Smoke would rather go up and out. I'd keep your door closed, the smell will drive you nuts( in a good way). I'm not real familiar with the model you have, but, if you have a wood deck you're putting it on, place...

    StokerLog Version 5 Preview

I had that problem also, so I set up a field for the from address. If using gmail, I use the g-mail account name as the sender. Nothing gets kicked back. I wish I could say the same for Comcast, but heck, gmail is free for everyone. I also use standard ports for sending, 25 I think is standard...

    INFO ON STOKER WIRELESS SYSTEM

If you want a cheap wireless adapter, go to The Home Depot and grab a Belkin Wireless, 4 port router. It'll do most of what you want to do, it'll even act as a wireless access point in case you already have a wired router setup. Next you'll need a wireless bridge to connect the Stoker wirelessly...

    StokerLog Version 5 Preview

Amir, On further examination of the e-mail problem, it appears that if the mail has failed, it goes through a +- 60 second timeout before you can try again. In my app, I use a try-catch and display the result if failed. That ties up the app so you cannot try again until it succeeds or times...

    StokerLog Version 5 Preview

I have an account at gmail so I have been using that one for my agent. However, I too am a comcast customer and after trying to use them as an agent, I find it will not work with comcast. My advice for now is to get a free gmail account. Amir, This is weird for 2 reasons. One, it works with my...

Where can I find the Port #? I use Microsoft Live mail and it only shows the servers etc...no port listed? </div></BLOCKQUOTE> What are you wanting to do with the ports? StokerLog Version 5 Preview

In the app I wrote, "timers", this feature is selected in a menu. I first select a probe to test for a temp, then select either rising or falling, which probe to change, and finally the new target temperature. I make no assumptions as to which probe is to be tested or which probe is to be...

    StokerLog Version 5 Preview

It's like the ramp feature on other brands. What I did in mine was to tell the stoker to update to a new a temperature setting when a certain temperature on another probe is reached. For instance, I like to cook turkeys, starting out slow to get the smokey flavor in there and then finish hotter...

    StokerLog Version 5 Preview

Larry, I'm glad you got it worked out. Amir, I too am using the new 5 version of StokerLog. It's great. The only thing it's missing is the auto shift feature and I use that very seldom. Other than that, a discount meat and beer distributor locator is all that it needs. You did a great job.
