So I reversed the switch and it now works when pushing up, left and right. But not in the down position? Is it supposed to do something when pushed down?

Guess that's where I may have went wrong I just had it plugged into my laptop with the USB cable. So if I understand correctly I need to keep the USB cable in use and also connect to the computer with an either net cable? Is this a standard cable or a crossover cable?

Also moving the four way button does nothing.
