Anybody have experience with these thermometers?

Seems like a pretty harmless departure from the original topic. Some of us like chik fil a and some don't. It shouldn't be a big deal. I guess you never know.

Jon I'm with you regarding chick fil a. I love their food and service. We limit the fast food to a couple of times a month or so but when we do its usually chick fil a. The 2 in our hometown are unbelievably busy. I love their original sandwich but the healthier grilled version is very good as...

    Vikings Won

Haha Dave you beat me to it. Last weekend was awesome and that included Miami beating the Pats to help out our Chiefs. Glad your Vikings won Bruce. Best time of the year for football fans.

No football to speak of? There is in Missouri! Our Chiefs are on a ROLL! It's kind of long but I've enjoyed this discussion on thermometers. I do think a good thermometer is important. I didn't use one at all until 3 or 4 years ago and my grilling improved immeasurably once I started using...

    Happy New Year

Haha. That's pretty much a given for us. Maybe not the guys on the kettle forum? Happy New Year!

Anybody have experience with these thermometers?

I would imagine there is very little difference performance wise in the thermoworks and thermopro. They both use the faster thermocouple mechanism. Reviews for both are great in regards to accuracy. The big question is durability. And while I'm pretty pleased with the build quality of my...

Anybody have experience with these thermometers?

I'll be interested to see what you think of that one Jon. Particularly the build quality. As Larry stated probably the main difference is LCD vs LED. The LED probably being easier to see but also possibly draining the battery quicker.

Yeah it's not really a professional type review but it does seem free of bias. I do wonder if the author got a defective javelin that colored his review negatively towards that brand. I agree the AAA battery (having it) is a deal breaker for me. I thought hard about a thermapen classic. I found...

Anybody have experience with these thermometers?

There's a review online by a guy that somehow ended up with ALL 3 of the thermometers we've been discussing here LOL. Kind of overkill but I can kind of relate to him. I tend to do a lot of research before making a purchase and I'll sometimes buy more than one brand of an item to compare. Anyway...

Bequeathed Weber Genesis Silver C LP

As everyone else has stated you have a great grill there for restoration. Here's a link to a parts company I've used for stainless grates, flavorizors, igniters and such. Their stainless grates and flavorizors are very high quality at lower prices. https://www.bbqparts.com/silverc.htm

I agree. It's something to keep an eye on. Despite pretty heavy use I've actually never replaced the AAA battery in my cheaper slower 10 buck thermopro. The good news is that the better thermopro tp19 also uses a cheap commonly available AAA battery.

Anybody have experience with these thermometers?

My Thermopro tp19 came today. Ran it through a few quick tests. Then used it for grilling a couple of chicken breasts. I'm impressed. Accuracy seems spot on. Gives an accurate reading in about 3 seconds. I'm satisfied with the build quality too. It's not as robust as a thermapen but it seems...

No but it's on his deck and partially covered under a roof overhang.

    Rehab grill candidates

Bruce my father's old grill is the open cart. It's probably 25 years old? I think all the old 1000's were on cart weren't they? I think some of the higher priced models from that era had an enclosed cabinet but not the 1000's. I could be wrong though. You are right about my brother's grill. It...

    Rehab grill candidates

Maybe. But maybe not. My brother thinks our father's restored Genesis 1000 is "kind of cool " but its obvious he prefers his newer all stainless Genesis. 3 years in his Genesis is holding up great. I like them both but prefer mine.

Thank you both. I've ordered a thermopro.

Anybody have experience with these thermometers?

Yeah I see that point of view too. This thread go me started wanting a better thermometer. My cheapo works ok but it's a bit slow and the temp seems to jump around some making me question the accuracy. Frankly I'm torn between the 20 buck one job posted and that you bought and the much more...

Here's another comparative video of quite a number of these thermometers. This one makes me think maybe the thermapen is worth the extra $$ long term...
