    Well My ThermoPro Failed Me

Brian thanks for the information on the thermapen post warranty repair program. That puts them on a more level playing field for me the next time I need to replace my instant thermometer. I'll be interested in your head to head comparison.

    Well My ThermoPro Failed Me

Thermopro also has a model that looks like it has all the bells and whistles for less than 12 bucks! Not sure how this differs from the 15.99 one that several of you already have? Looks like a bargain though. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Y51PCW7/?tag=tvwb-20

    Well My ThermoPro Failed Me

Larry I don't think you started a war? Just a lively discussion. I appreciate you posting your experience with a product i use so frequently.

    Well My ThermoPro Failed Me

I agree with you to a certain degree. Yet long term durability well past the warranty does regularly happen with certain products and certain manufacturers. Toyota is a prime example of that. Their vehicles regularly last hundreds of thousands of miles past warranty expiration. Do I think that...

    WEBER 9mm SS grates

Maybe weber went back to a tighter spacing? That does look pretty reasonable. All I know is I read a post on this forum several years ago by Larry about the spacing being way too wide. I remember making a point to look at a weber grill in a Lowe's and noting that he was absolutely correct. The...

    WEBER 9mm SS grates

That's what I was referring to. The newer weber grates look to have pretty wide spacing. Didn't know it was a half inch.

    WEBER 9mm SS grates

I think the main difference between the weber grates and the rcplanebuyer ones is the spacing. With the rcplanebuyer being closer spaced. I'm sure the weber grates are good quality.

Used a Charbroil door to fix a Spirit Grease Tray

Very creative. And probably the best use for most char broil grills.

    Well My ThermoPro Failed Me

I agree there is no right or wrong answer here. BUT I am kind of shocked the thermopen warranty is only 2 years. For a $100 product? That seems pretty chintzy. And thermopro offers a 3 year warranty (if you register your product).

Good analogy with the tumblers jon. I actually have both a yeti tumbler and an Ozark trail tumbler. The yeti was 40 bucks and the Ozark trail was 9. I use both and there is no difference in performance.

    Well My ThermoPro Failed Me

In my opinion it you value durability and quality above all you would pick a thermapen. If you value value for your buck you are going to pick a thermopro. I don't know for a fact but I suspect both are pretty equally accurate. Personally even though they are less expensive I'm not interested...

What do you guys think about this grill?

Yeah I have a 2 burner silver A and a 3 burner 1000 and they get equally hot. The silver A actually heats up a little faster for some reason.

    Well My ThermoPro Failed Me

I'm sorry to hear that. If I'm remembering right I got mine (same model) at the same time as you got yours. Mine is still working well at this point but it's a bit concerning. I do love that huge bright and easy to read display. If mine breaks I might pony up the $100 for a thermoworks...

Grill Brush - Brass or Stainless Steel

Personally I'm very glad I switched to round stainless grates and the chargon tool. I really hate brushes and I haven't used one in several years now. But if you have porcelain coated cast iron grates you are kind of stuck with a brush of some sort.

    Cabinet or open

It's not inevitable that a genesis II cart will rust. My brother has one he's owned for several years. Open cart. He keeps it covered on an open deck year round. Zero rust on his.

    Genesis II vs Napoleon Prestige

I actually haven't looked at New grills for some time including Napoleon. I am curious do they all still have the funky wavy grates?

Supposedly Brand new never used Weber Grill Genesis 1000 $1,000

I agree if you are comparing this grill to a restored weber at 200 to 300 bucks it's not worth it. But compared to a new 2021 weber 3 burner at about $1000 it is. This grill would likely outlast a brand new weber by a fairly wide margin.

    Replacement flavorizer bar question

As far as 304 vs 430 in my opinion the 304 is significantly better. Those 304 flavorizors would likely last several decades. The 430 significantly less but still probably 10 years or more. That's strictly educated guesses on my part.

    Happy New Year to everybody.

Happy New year everyone. I REALLY think in 2021 we'll turn the corner on this pandemic. Things probably will get somewhat worse in the next couple of months. BUT as more people are vaccinated things should settle down. My wife and I were actually vaccinated a couple of weeks ago. The economy...

Good read on various grill grates

Over about 45 years of grilling I've used thin wire grates, cast iron grates, and thick stainless grates. Personally I've found little difference in how these grates perform from a cooking/grilling standpoint. All the difference to me is in ease of maintenance and durability. And for me the...
