Weber clearance at Target starting up again.

Heads up! Clearance time is starting again. I am ready to pickup some new stuff for my first weber grill (restoring it!) Going for some tank covers, grill covers, cleaners and smoker tube. No better time than clearance. :)

Genesis Silver B Restoration - From Japan to Texas

No I will not be painting the lid. I could tell it was not paintable. I still have to clean the lid up. But the cookbox is so shiny silver looking it will be hard to paint. Is there a reason you use a diff color with the bottom cookbox and the rest of the grill (sides of the lid and frame?) I...

Genesis Silver B Restoration - From Japan to Texas

Look at that shiny cook box! Do I have to paint it? It looks so good. :) Also got the emblem off the lid. That was a lot harder then I thought it was going to be!

    Bruce, your competition LOL

Hey, that is my grill listed in Chi..........j/k....That area is too cold for me to live in. I just started looking at weber grills in the DFW market about two weeks ago and it has been interesting. So far I have ran across 3 or so for free (I got one of them.)Want to finish working on it to...

Lightning struck twice in 2 weeks, found a brand new in box Weber Flame 27000 Firepit!

That is an amazing find. After seeing it in your other thread I want one. :) Not sure I would use it now but when the boys get a little older I am sure I would. Currently I just search everywhere for weber and webber (some people don't spell the best...including me.)

Genesis Silver B Restoration - From Japan to Texas

Davew - good to know the hole will not be much of an issue. I am going to try the job weld and see how she turns out. Yea I have made it all smooth (or making it all smooth in some places that I am still working on.) I used the knotted cup brush as I could not just the stuff to remove with the...

Genesis Silver B Restoration - From Japan to Texas

Which JB Weld did you use? There is a High Heat Epoxy putty and a extreme heat mix (that looks like it would be hard to get to stay in place. Since it is my personal grill I am not worried that it does not look perfect. It seem like when it got dented (which is right there also and pushed...

    How high should I bid?

Jon.....WOW!!! That is awesome! Plus all the weber grill covers look so sweet. :) But I am not sure I would know where to start with all of them. Yea i was worried about the hood myself! Plus I don't know where I would put it right now (I have a fence replacement project I am wanting to do also...

Genesis Silver B Restoration - From Japan to Texas

If this thing did not have a story of being over in Japan I would probably look for another one to restore and use it for parts. The rust on the frame, crack/dent in the firebox, and not my fav color lid (I really like the bright blue!). But I can't give up on this one! Here is the crack/hole...

    How high should I bid?

Probably worked out for the best since you have a crew of others to restore right now also. :) But I have to tell you, since I bought my first one I keep seeing some really good deals out there and keep telling myself to hold off until I get this one restored to see if I want to take on any...

How much can you get for a Spirit?

Even though you missed that one I am sure another will come along and catch your eye. ;) Ever since I started looking at grills I have ran across 6 that I should have jumped on but thought, so I need another grill right now? (The answer is you always need another grill!) On a side note is there...

Budget restoration project, 2005 Genesis Gold C, curbside find

Looks good! Awesome when you can find them for free. Can’t wait to see the progress and finished product. I will say after starting my restoration I have a lot of respect for you guys who have done several! It is a lot more work than what it looks like.

Genesis Silver B Restoration - From Japan to Texas

Thanks Bruce! I saw that info in another post after posting and was fixing to run to get some steel wool. The grate is just inside the cook box to hold my stuff outside while storing it until I work on it again. :)

    Refurb assistance needed in NYC

Weird the cook box did not do that and only the end caps. Did you get the cook box clear of the stuff compared to the end caps? I am in the process of cleaning my end caps and box so I was wondering if I needed to knock everything off or not. It looks like my answer is yes. :|

Genesis Silver B Restoration - From Japan to Texas

I can see that!!! I took a shower and still had some under my eye area where the glasses were. That stuff is messy! On a side note. How clean do you guys get the outside of the cookbox for painting? All shinny or just knock the stuff of. Also the same question for the inside. This is my...

Genesis Silver B Restoration - From Japan to Texas

Bruce, It would be nice to have some welding experience and tools, I am finding that out. But I will say that it is very time consuming and dirty! I think the frame gave me a false sense of this being easier than it was going to be. Then today I started on the box that appears to have had some...

Genesis Silver B Restoration - From Japan to Texas

Bruce, I may have to leave a little somewhere. :) Not sure as this thing is pretty dirty! HA Rich, I left those on but I think something went south with the bolt on the other side holding it into the frame. I will get a picture once I am done getting everything cleaned off. I have to say...

Genesis Silver B Restoration - From Japan to Texas

Next it was time to clean the cook box and lid.....THIS IS MESSY! Prepare yourself as you will be covered in gunk. But it is neat to see something so bad looking and turning it into something newish again. It takes some time to get it all shinny. I used my angle grinder again on this with the...
