    The LinkMeter Snapshot and YOU

Brian cooking some ribs today and noticed an issue with the fan control. Since the change with the "invert output" highlight tag and the ability to reverse the servo pulse direction calibration, my fan now needs to have the "invert output" box clicked in order for the fan to follow the servo...

    The LinkMeter Snapshot and YOU

I went ahead and updated to the 20200214 file. I see there is something to add link to Light home page to the home page. Not sure what and where to see this addition. Keep looking on graph and config screen for something different. When next update comes i will download the image and update like...

like the new screen and change of adding the the "tooltip" when hovering over the invert output check box for servo. I did run into something and i am not sure this is an issue, but it is confusing. When you perform a reboot from the config screen, the wheel spins and when the reboot completes...

Thanks Brian. Your change worked. Swapped the servo fully open and closed values and then unchecked invert the output. Worked perfect and graph now displays what the damper servo is actually doing. Will test more tomorrow prior to Wednesday rib cook. Download of update worked fine too.

[Oh wait! Are you saying that your servo operates in reverse, i.e. 1810 is fully closed and 900 is fully open? Ah yes that's kind of a problem because the checkbox was designed to invert the operation of the servo (and the blower too with its checkbox), not flip its endpoints. However, looking...

Very nice update. It came up as I was finishing a spatchcock chicken so i did not get a chance to try the update. I did update this morning and i ended up having to remove sdcard and flash it outside of case. I could only find an image and using the avrfirmware in linkmeter did no have that...

Phil, Nice looking graph. What did you end up with for final settings? Also do you use any type of isolation plates between food and flame.

Frustration with temp reliability. Probe placement or other issues?

Brian, I noticed when i was performing a noise check of a new thermocouple probe, the probe measured 2 degree higher with the noise test firmware versus the latest release firmware. I do have a -1 degree offset with my thermocouple and i see the noise test firmware leaves that at zero which is...

How to calibrate the different types of probes?

Will. Great looking probes. Looks like it might be time to buy a spool of K-TC cable and make some for how they get used in my grill. I have a few old K-types plugs laying around from old probes, so i got that covered. What type of high temp cement did you use. Also did you pack the tubes with a...

Frustration with temp reliability. Probe placement or other issues?

I bought the Thermoworks THS-113-041 with the clip mainly because an exposed TC junction is faster to respond and that works well till tip get gummed up and the chemicals start to deteriorate the weld. I do have this probe, Thermoworks TW-113-442 and i am going back to it because it is more...

How to calibrate the different types of probes?

Good info. Yup my heads a spinning. My current current Thermowork RTD probes were verified at my former employer in the cal lab and they were close to reading the same. We didn`t check the thermocouple because we thought the silicone oil might be nasty if it dripped on food. It is interesting to...

Frustration with temp reliability. Probe placement or other issues?

I have noticed that I get about a year on the Thermoworks probes with the alligator clips. They work great and then I start to gets jump and spikes, noise, and then I change it out to my spare non alligator clip probe. That one I just drop down through the small opening in the top damper to...

    I need a new grill!

I have a Primo jr which is now 11 years young. Here is my list of pro`s and cons Pro`s Superb factory support. Had a firebox break and called them up. They knew about the issue being caused by some isolator plate grills made incorrectly. They sent new firebox, d-plate, d-plate grills. I paid for...

Frustration with temp reliability. Probe placement or other issues?

I feel your pain. I have experienced control issues like this when I cook as well. Always happens when it is cold and windy or when there is high humidity. My cook this weekend was effected by cold air, not wind. I see you secure you pit probe to the grate. I also see the deflector has 3 areas...
