Minor issues: Chrome and max temp

OK, done. I haven’t followed close enough to know if there have been any other changes for the snapshot. Thanks.

Minor issues: Chrome and max temp

If the snow ever stops, I will try to test on Saturday. If I use the snapshot tool Friday evening will it be in there, or should I grab the hex file?

Minor issues: Chrome and max temp

Woohoo! Glad to see such quick progress on this bug, and super glad you were able to reproduce it. I can’t test this week (out of town) but I will try to plan a high heat cook next weekend.

    Heatermeter AP Mode

I just dumped my pi B and Edimax (x2) interfaces because of similar issues. The WiFi would work most of the time, but would drop out, sometimes briefly, sometimes for long periods. Rebooting would not always help and often, when the WiFi dropped, it would take out the LAN as well which made it...

Minor issues: Chrome and max temp

Final followup on problems 1) and 2)... Uninstal Sophos and the webpage updates properly and the P works again. :D So, my only remaining issue is the elusive high temp or high rate of temp change bug. Since I am not the only one with the issue and it really is minor, I can live with that for...

Minor issues: Chrome and max temp

Ralph, I think you and I must be too quick for Bryan to keep up. :D Seriously, it does sound like it is related to a rapid rate of change. If it wasn't snowing and blowing like mad out, I might have done some testing tonight. I figured out my issue with "Chrome" not updating. It turns out...

Minor issues: Chrome and max temp

I try to use chrome or my phone exclusively, just attempted Edge for kicks. I don't think there is an issue with the HM/LM as I can simultaneously watch the page update on my pnome, and not update for hours on Chrome. I will poke around and see if it is something I did with Chrome settings...

    First thermocouple purchase

Hmmm, they do react fast, but I have not had any issues holding set temperatures within a couple of degrees. Your software and the right settings handle it well and the HM doesn't make too many/too frequent servo or fan adjustments for me.

    First thermocouple purchase

I use wire thermocouples from eBay that cost a few dollars. The ones rated for 550c or higher should cover all your grill and smoker needs. Here is a 10 pack of 2 meter, 700c (1300f) probes for less than $15. They are thin, flexible, easy to run anywhere, and they react very quickly...

Minor issues: Chrome and max temp

Thanks guys. Being logged in does not help the P issue. Entering the command is a suitable alternative. Ralph, you may be right about it being a rapid rise vs absolute temp. Whenever I use the Kamado at high temps, I am also opening and closing the lid frequently since things cook quickly. It...

Pi zero wh with 4.2.4 board?

FYI, For anyone else who finds this thread in a search, clipping the extra pins was fast and easy and worked perfectly. My only caution is to wear protective eye wear and try to do the clipping in a bag or under cover. The pins can take off with impressive velocity when clipped!

Minor issues: Chrome and max temp

It looks like switching to a Pi Zero has successfully resolved my dropout issues, so now I have a couple small questions. 1) The link meter home page used to continuously update every second or two. It still does in Safari on an iPhone, but in edge (puke) it updates much slower and Chrome no...

    Auto/Default AP

How about a script that checks for a WiFi connection and then if it doesn’t find one, it reverts to AP mode after a couple minutes? You could probably make it cycle through a couple of known networks, and connect to the first it finds and if none, then go to AP mode. Hmmmm. This might be...

    Auto/Default AP

I use mine on two different networks. My solution to date has been to use two WiFi adapters, one configured for each ssid. Now that I am switching to a pi zero, I am going to have to try the dual usb drive method. Or just get a second HM.

    Auto/Default AP

I haven’t tested it yet, but the new version of the software is supposed to be able to pull a temporary network config off a USB stick. You could setup the stick to put it into AP mode, or to configure it for the network you are visiting.

Pi zero wh with 4.2.4 board?

    That’s pretty cool!

Pi zero wh with 4.2.4 board?

HA! I picked up a couple Pi Zero W's and thought it would be simple to snip the pins and stick in the SD card from the old B Pi. The header pins are no big deal, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to shove the 1990's full sized SD card into the MicroSD slot on the 2017 Zero...

Yes and way more if you can do a little scripting.

    Auto reboot WiFi on Hetermeter

That sounds like a pretty significant bug. I use a DHCP reservation and my router is pretty stable so I have not run into THIS problem, but my Edimax interfaces don't like to stay connected, hence my interest in this thread and my plan to replace my old pi with a Zero W. Hmmmm.

    Auto reboot WiFi on Hetermeter

Sounds like the Pi is not responding to ARP requests. Does an ifconfig show a NOARP flag on the offending interface?
