    I am restoring this Genesis 5 ....

The wood part sucks. I cut a boat load of slats from way too nice outdoor wood because it was all I could get here. Still finishing them. Keep on it!

7 years and time for a clean up

What is the pecking order on the lid colors? In rarity from obscure to common I'd say Blue-Green-Red-Black? In desirability, I'd have swapped green and red until I saw this example. Well kept! Skylines and platinums excluded for this question.

Another #9057 Grill Out Handle Light available on Ebay

Or just grab the free handles out there. Now at first I got excited that the free pickup had the handle. But the more i look at the pictures, I think the handle is fubar'd. I see a crack, missing material, and gorilla tape. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/223050206252119/

Essential Genesis Rehab tool "GO BAG"

Haha no, not for the pickup kit, but definitely in the rescue kit. This thing cleared a ton of spider nests from the inside. If just going to pickup, 7/16 wrench is all you need to break it down enough to fit in the car. And a drop cloth too I suppose.

    Extra long tubing brush?

    Old Meets New

I"m 38 and have thought the same thing. MHP is my next step, but no need yet. Blaze makes a full 316 grill and cart but that's $3,000.

    Unicorn Alert for Milwaukee area

Good sign when the model and serial is transcribed to the owners manual. Good sign when they still have the owners manual for that matter.

I will just leave this here

Nice, you definitely know the area then. If I've learned anything, it is to be patient. My restore candidate came from Glen Rock; a $30 red head. Stick around long enough, and a low mileage creme puff will show up, just try to get it at the right price.

I will just leave this here

Following up on that killer old school stainless summit from a few weeks ago. This is another high dollar NJ town (I promise they're not all like this). Big lots, big houses, and big property taxes. Why can't this be cheaper as a starting point...

HOW TO: Cook Box Frozen Bolt Removal

Another naive question. When it shatters, does it come apart like a broken glass jar, or just crack all over the place, but still remain in one piece? Just have never seen it. Not trying to bring back bad memories though...

Weber Grill out Handle lights on Ebay

Nope, but thank you. We're good here, the HD screws did the trick, and as a bonus more stainless. I should be finishing the grill this weekend, and the handle and old generation rotisserie have been a great pickup along the way.

05 Summit Platinum\Genesis Platinum Frankengrill Build Thread

You definitely can, especially if you've come this far. Parts are parts, even aftermarket stuff. Just a matter of making it look clean. Repurpose the igniter hole switch?

    need help...

I have the one with the sliding indicator, the 99243, and just bought a new one on amazon so it looks clean and my old spring was half rusted anyway though still seemed to move. Now I kind of want to do this. Is there anything special to do with the spring, feels like it has tension on it even...

Weber Grill out Handle lights on Ebay

Mine showed up the other day and it's great. Brand new. (Thanks again Bruce). Nice to not need the headband light anymore. Now of course, I managed to strip one screw head and lose another screw within 10 minutes of opening the package while changing the bulbs. Everbilt pack of #4 x 1/2"...

Argh (doh!)... False start on my 1993 Genesis 2000 (redhead)

I'm no expert on aluminum, but it sure is versatile. These castings have been documented to shatter when provoked, especially after age. Yet, I've got a few mountain bikes going strong. Alloys are amazing. Same applies to steel. Forged vs. cast. I have a lot to learn.

Kind of getting the idea to bore and stroke my old spirit 700.

    Genesis 1100 Redhead Restoration Project

That's in very good shape. That the wheels have those noodly plastic pieces in the letters intact is a good thing. Clean it up, change the hardware to stainless and you should be in business.

I love to see the needle pegged on a grill. Almost feel like you're doing something wrong. When the Genesis goes past the 550 to 6 oclock position. Oh yeah!

Genesis Silver A Grease Tray back in Stock!

You would think they could pull the old die out of storage, load on the machine for an afternoon and run off a set of the older bigger pans for us.

    Parts Alert

No, they shouldn't and as far as i'm concerned it's the only troublesome part on the x000 that cannot easily be salvaged from another grill, replaced or replicated in a similar fashion. (a separate discussion is warranted on the rocker switch bracket). I've had the idea to cut and bend pieces...
