Canadian 1100 Redhead - Almost done

It's sapele, some relation to mahogony and should fare well as the finish I used is started to erode. This was during the spring and wood wasn't cheap and the selection was minimal around here. I ripped the 1x4s at a friends house. I got the spacer idea from the forum and just scoured the...

Canadian 1100 Redhead - Almost done

1 9/16 is what I measured on my old OEM wood too. Used 4 quarters for the upper shelf spacing, and the wood ends up flush with the Z bar. I have a 3000, and the lower shelves indent a bit so when both are next to each other, a gap is maintained. I used a 5/16 nut tipped sideways there. SS...

    Genesis 1000 Porcelain Drip Tray

Wanted: A Rocker Switch Cover for my good ole Silver B part number WEB92515

Thats the other part besides the bottom drip tray that is detrimental to a restoration (on x000 on the tray and bracket), and silver models for the rocker bracket. Where is the 3D printing crowd?

I Found my Tribe; I'm a Grill Restorer

I joined 4 years ago and didn't use any of the knowledge here. Halfway fixed up at crappy old spirit and cooked on it for those 4 years. Now went nuts on an old Genesis and then bought a skyline and fixed up for my mother. These things are fun purely because they are fixable. I don't have it...

    Wolf $10K Built-In Grill Restore

Joe, thanks for a great chronicle of this grill. It's cool. No doubt about it. I've loved reading this. In my view, it'd be worth in the 1 to 2k range just to buy and stare at while I figure out how to make it work at the house.

After my experience I can see how he arrived at that price. Paint, Eastwood, wood, solvents, consumable tools, hardware, tank gauge, wheels, RCPs. I wouldn't pay that for a restored old grill, but spending a lot to do it yourself for a keeper is another story.

    Genesis 1000 Porcelain Drip Tray

The lip at the center hole is not needed. That lower final grease tray will still squeeze into place. The small corner holes do nothing.

    Genesis 1000 Porcelain Drip Tray

I have been pondering the steam table pan for awhile too. Could be a cob job one could be proud of. If the dimensions of the old OEM tray are 19-5/8 x 13-3/4, I think it could be made to work? Depth can vary, but the restaurant pans are 20.75 x 12.75. Think there is enough overlap/excess to...

Generally I don't like the look of a blank wood handle that is used as a replacement, but the dowel looks pretty sharp.

    Philly grill on market place

Yeah, that's the hail mary i tossed on the buy/sell forum but doubt that will result in anything. The previous owner rigged a piece of wood and a few hooks into the rod holders. I moved some tool hooks i had over to it. One thing that is nice on these old guys is that they came with stainless...

I know $100 is pushing it when looking for value, but for a keeper, i thought this was pretty good. purely evaluating based on the gray wheel insert not being all mangled as an indicator of the rest of the unit. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/838810187048061/

    Philly grill on market place

Figured I could give an update on this. Did a 80% job on this one and gave to my mother. Was in great shape to start but i'm out of paint and running low on hardware so I didn't go nuts. fully disassembled and mitigated some early frame rust degreased and decarbonized for the first time in...
