    O code cleaned

    That's a great colour.

    Replacement bowl woes

Keep both if you have the space, or sell one to reduce your outlay. Use a suitable Hammerite paint to protect the exposed metal. Hopefully last 10 years+

    Hinged Kettle

Cooked some wings using a Vortex style fuel dome. Regularly turn the lid to reposition the lid vent. Even easier using both hands!

    Kettle Inflation???

Don't hear as much about it now but the shipping container costs had reached stupidly high levels. They seem to have eased a bit but still 4 times higher than pre-pandemic. Also China is suffering from lockdowns which affects productivity and price. The Weber Traveler I bought in August last...

    WSM Smoke Day 18 T-Shirts $20

It sparked some interest at the counter in Pinkertons, San Antonio!

    Hinged Kettle

It's mainly about the ease of lifting the lid. I find it really convenient compared to my old kettles which only had the hooks. I never seemed to catch the hooks on the first attempt. At times when your hands are full it's a real benefit and less chance of damaging the lid moving it about. That...

    Hinged Kettle

The lid can be disconnected very easily and rotated. No problem using the rotisserie either. I've had no problems with heat on the lid when lighting the chimney, I don't remove the lid. Time will tell if it causes a problem in the long term.

    Hinged Kettle

I like the convenience of the hinged lid. Needs a bit of tweaking to get the lid to seal properly but other than that I prefer it. Yes, if it's exposed to a strong wind it acts like a sail but I use mine in a shelter so no problems.

    WSM Smoke Day 18 T-Shirts $20

Great timing. My t-shirt(s) arrived this morning. Just in time to fly out tomorrow for a week in (flaming hot) Austin TX on a birthday BBQ pilgrimage.

Can someone explain the lid vent on the WSK? Why so loose?

Same here. You do have to check the vent position after every time you've opened the lid. Even though mine is pretty gunked up I didn't notice it had closed up completely in a recent cook.

    It is done

The fuel economy is great. Even for a small cook I use the WSK rather than the kettle. Do you think the 10 unlit briqs worked well? I wonder if drippings on the unlit or partially lit briqs caused it to choke a bit?

    26 Inch Yellow landed

I like the Ukraine colour scheme. Porcelain Enamel is a wonderful product. I found a very friendly U.K. enamelling company who did a couple of free trial drums for me. The flag transfer is baked on during a second lower temp run. The customisation possibilities are endless with the transfers...

    It is done

Good decision. You wont regret it. Prices here in the UK have shot up recently. RRP for my E6 back in November 2021 was £1049 - I snapped up one for £895 when dealers offered a rare 15% discount. That's looking like a real bargain now. The RRP here is now £1249. Dealers offering 10% discount...

P shaped vents fully close or not

Have you tried the ash collector ring in different positions? It think it has three possible positions. It might just give enough extra movement in one of the other two positions. I've found my MT doesn't fully sweep in both directions so it builds a ridge of ash at each hole. It's annoying...

    2022 Kettles

So is there any flex in other kettle lids? I'm pretty sure there wasn't in my old ones, but I don't currently have anything to compare it with. Need to visit my nearest Weber dealer to give them a squeeze.

    2022 Kettles

There is some flex in the lid of my MT Premium. if you push the sides in it moves. The bowl has a rolled edge to prevent that type of movement. I don't have any kettles to compare it with these days but I don't recall that type of movement in my old ones.

    2022 Kettles

The cupholder thingee is just about the right size for the iGrill2 temp monitor. It actually needs to be a bit bigger but it does the job and is a handy holster for probes. I think people might think the MT Premium lid is lighter because the sprung hinge makes it well balanced and very easy to...

    2022 Kettles

Plenty of independent Public Relations and Marketing companies out there who are employed to manage the company message to the consumers. Weber have their own marketing department. Some companies are much better at it than others. It wouldn't take much for Weber to make a slick video of their...

    2022 Kettles

Thanks for the insight John. I admit I got sucked into thinking that all the manufacturing had been outsourced to China and quality had declined. For kettles, Is it the sheet metal and the plastic components that are sourced from China? Then pressing, enamelling, assembly in Huntley? What...
