    Got my Vieluxe, now what??

Thank you very much Jon. During the teardown, I repeatedly thought of how few people get to dismantle a Vieluxe. Feel blessed indeed. During my rehab project, I hope I can do justice to the craftspeople who originally made it.

    Got my Vieluxe, now what??

I hadn’t dared to think that far ahead. That decision is very distant from where I am, which is a pile of shrapnel belonging to something once magical. I hope my yard is not where unicorns come to die.

    Got my Vieluxe, now what??

Hi Jon, the grill came with almost everything except rotis motor/skewer. A few bolts/nuts were missing here and there, but in general a 8 or 9 out of 10. I’ve dragged home some ugly 2’s and 3’s that should have been landfilled. I’ve uncovered more unusual parts during the teardown over the...

    Got my Vieluxe, now what??

in all seriousness, I would not opencart a machine like this. Rest assured goodfellas. While I’m waiting for new caster wheels, I’m getting acquainted with the Vieluxe. It is different from my Genesis Platinum, strange new parts. The Summit owners out there might recognize these parts. Here’s...

    Got my Vieluxe, now what??

Here’s what some of them look like, they feel mushy when unscrewing, not dense/solid like the external bolts (don’t know if I’m explaining it sensibly): I had a Charbroil that was badged as a Frontgate before my conversion to the church of Weber. The Charbroil sat uncovered for 12 years in my...

    Got my Vieluxe, now what??

That settles it. I will opencart it…. temporarily and store the doors and back panel like @Jon Tofte suggested while I work on the rest of the grill. Any weight reduction during the rehab is gladly welcomed. The back and other panels are secured with with 4 bolts each that were easily...

    1st Gen Performer restore

Garth: Your pictures don't show up in the post, I've tried viewing on 3 different devices. Anyone else *not* seeing this? Anyway, I've got a 1st gen Performer that's still trucking along. Seeing fewer and fewer of these as the years roll on.

    Got my Vieluxe, now what??

Happy Friday! Steadily dismantling the Vieluxe while casters are on order. With the back panel removed, I’m pondering: would you opencart a Vieluxe??!!??!

    Got my Vieluxe, now what??

I don’t know man, will have to wait and see. This is my first NS Weber. It’s completely dead now but even squaring up to it when it’s cold, feels foreign. Completely different than EW burners I’ve owned, hot and warm zones now get sideways, I’m disoriented. I don’t yet get how the smoker fumes...

free First generation Performer in Yuba City CA ( not mine )

I agree, when my gas assist was working, it was awesome like you said. Loved it! Over the years, all that inconvenience I avoided was steadily accruing and mutated into potential burner/valve replacement and tank recert hassles. Thus I ripped out the system. Newer gas Performers use Coleman...

free First generation Performer in Yuba City CA ( not mine )

I have one but date code 12-99, can’t get it refilled anyway. Couldn’t find replacements for my Performer’s *** assist so dismantled it. It was a fussy setup for me to maintain, overly complicated solution compared to a simple chimney starter. The worse part was it needed an extra hole in...
