What goes good with Whiskey ( Got to meet Mike Rowe)

Agreed! But then, why the ice? :) The OP is gifting to his 80 year old dad. I would suggest that what goes good with that bottle is to have his family around. At 80, I doubt he needs anything else. Gerry

Well, that kind of dilutes it...:) Gerry

Have 4 Webers and find the quality and service to be going down hill.

I would imagine that dealing with the public has become exponentially more difficult in recent (maybe not so recent) years. Common courtesy seems to be out the window, and most people seem to blame everything but themselves when they are at fault. I would hate to be in customer service...

Have 4 Webers and find the quality and service to be going down hill.

The one on the left would never have made it onto my deck. My early Genesis grills are still cooking and looking good. I find no reason to "upgrade" to something that might last ten years. My old ones were still cooking like new after 30+ years with very little maintenance. So, yeah. No...

Turns out I have two of them, plus the bracket that goes on the earliest swing up tables. Cody, I see you are in the Madison area. We are up in Wisconsin fairly often, and if you’re not in a hurry, I can just drop it off, or we can meet somewhere. If you want it sooner, then just pay for...

I don't need it any more, so I wouldn't mind letting it go. I think I have a couple more of them, but I have to look in the attic. I may have given them away. I made a couple of them out of stainless steel and attached them to my grills, and then I converted them to natural gas... Gerry

I am betting that those are plastic. They were on mine. After all these years, the are very brittle and you will probably break them while trying to remove them. Fortunately, you can get push pins at the hardware store. I have one of those old fuel gauges laying around that I won’t be using… Gerry

Not knowing Mark's intentions on how he is going to use the grill, I agree that two 30# tanks would be overkill and extra work. I could see having a 30# tank on board with no scale, and a 20# on the oem scale. Switch tanks when the 30# tank is empty. You would obviously refill the 30# tank...

Weber Genesis Platinum, I bought in Wausau,Wisconsin. Will be drastically modified.

Absolutely! And for all four wheels! Seriously though, I don't know what the plans are for this grill, and I'm sure Mark is probably still planning. When I built my grills, I copied the original frame size. If I had to do it over, I would probably have made the frame a bit taller. The reason...

You stated four large caster wheels. Is this grill going to be moved around a lot? If it is, and you are going to mount a 30# tank on each end, may I suggest a four-inch lift kit and maybe independent front and rear suspension?:) Gerry

That looks like it's going to be a cool project. When you're done you will have a grill that will last your lifetime! Gerry

What about cutting a thin sheet of aluminum to fit the back side where the holes are and just lay the piece on top of the holes? That might get you a few years of life on that drip tray. You could also make a piece for each of the sides and have them welded together. Then you would have an...

I was looking at those mats for the side tables. They were out of stock. The stainless works well though. Before I had that stainless, I just put the utensils on the side burner which has a stainless lid. That was before the deck was built and the grill was down in the grass. The mice...

You’re welcome! As promised, here are some pictures. The deck was pressure washed at springtime this year. Installed in 2007. The grills were done in 2019 and were left outside uncovered, but under the roof of the deck the whole time all year. At work I had a lot of stainless steel...

That is a great find, and it’s in good shape! It looks like it still has its original parts too. I restored (well, maybe restomodded) a couple of first generation Genesis grills myself a few years ago. One of them had the same swing up table as yours. You don’t see those swing up tables often...

We did ours in ironwood (Ipe) too. We just let it go gray and pressure wash it every few years. Gerry
