Grates are not the problem. You can use wider ones and cut them down. But burners are the problem. They no longer exist. And same applies for the slider grease pan.

To mix and match parts from these older Genesis over a period of many years is what I really liked about these grills. This made recycling easy and left plenty of room for customization.

Looks good. I use a blue lid on my Platinum. And since the new lid has black side panels I also replaced of the grey pieces such as the control panel with a black one. I was never a fan of that weird grey color from Weber. The tables are from a Summit.

I think not many people know the difference between the various Weber models (Silver vs Gold vs Platinum). People are probably not touching it because it is dirty. On top of that these old style Weber grills have become hard to sell here in the DFW area. This is why I stopped restoring.

Not completely true. I found a Skyline in the DFW area some time ago but I already sold it last year. I should have kept the condiment rack and sold it here in the forum. Not sure the new owner really appreciates the rarity.

One can also use the standard Weber light for the round handles as long as the wooden dowel rod has the same diameter.
