The gold looks good so I'd get that and take care of the cabinet, it doesn't look too bad. If you get it then clean up the cabinet then coat with some POR 15 or Eastwood.

It doesn't look too bad, I'd keep and rehab and if the box still bothers you then just look for another cheap or free silver/gold/platinum firebox and use that firebox.

As others have already chimed in, I would go with the old school grills....1000-5000 or Silver B or C (or gold/platinum)...easy to work on and maintain and they cook awesome (including roti cooks). The newer ones are already showing signs of rust in the cabinet (of course). And we all know that...

They should be swappable. But for the cook box I'm not sure if the bars are meaning for the 5 bar box, the length of a bar is 23 5/16" vs. 23 3/58 for the EW bar for the 1000 firebox (13 bar). The cookbox should be swappable though as I've done it for my Platinum and my brother's 3000 has the 5...

Yes, the bars and burners and manifolds are the same on the 00-01 Gold C and Platinum C, however, I don't remember if the Gold B manifold has the extra tap for the side burner...I think they do though like how the 1000 manifolds are. The bars are Weber 9913...

Yes, the 00-01 Platinum C uses the 1000 manifold but the cookbox is different since it's a 5 bar cookbox (that was a limited run I believe), however, u can swap it for a 13 bar cookbox as I've done. This is what I started with... Then I converted it to this.... Yah yah, I have to...

I'm 75% sure the manifold is the same as a 1000 because I took that same grill but in a platinum version and swapped it out for a 13 bar cookbox.

I think yours is durawood as I rehabbed one like that awhile ago. I cleaned up the wood then sprayed it rustoleum high heat gray paint. It came out well and I like the durawood only because it's easier to maintain.
