Summit Kamado - Talk me into/out of it

There's really two options here. Make like a Texan and GO BIG, or just don't do anything. I don't really see any middle ground. You can always get a less expensive charcoal grill, but you can't always get a Kamado like that for 800 bucks. So, and I'm not saying this in a mean spirited way at...

    Weber 2022 Genesis S-335 Conversion LP>NG

I agree 100%. The cost of a manifold swap pays for itself in peace of mind.

Natural gas is the best. I am glad to have it every time I grill. No tanks!

    The Humor Thread

Dogs understand over one hundred words, up to one hundred and eighty or so. That's part of why we like dogs so much. Cats also understand just as many words, if not more. They just don't feel like doing anything they don't want to. That one gets me a lot!

    Genesis 1000 Red Head Restoration

I can vouch for those handles, they are very well done! I have two, one on my grill and another as a spare. Mine are red oak, if you decide to get a wooden handle, I'd recommend replacing the durawood with the same kind of wood and you end up with a classic looking Red Head. You can stain and...

Mystery Part: Can you identify it?

These do not lay flush on the bracket but Lowes had them in stock and at least they’re stainless.

I don’t like that rust. I’d like to replace those with stainless.

Mystery Part: Can you identify it?

I stand corrected! Speaking of roto mounts, I recently replaced my hood Corvus pins with stainless. I should replace the roto mount fasteners with stainless too.

    Is this a confessional?

Gas grilling, in my opinion, is just as noble as using coal. Now, granted coal is "pure" and there are the flavor benefits, and you do have to learn heat and fuel control, but the same could be said for gas. Six or seven years ago I was burning the crap out of everything on the gas grill, and...

Mystery Part: Can you identify it?

Sounds right to me. I was at the end of my patience when I was putting that burner back on, and since it's not loose or even likely to be moved around by strong winds I just left it in there by gravity. Maybe I'll attach it correctly one day!

Mystery Part: Can you identify it?

Excellent work finding the schematic! Unfortunately, it's really unclear how it attaches from the diagram. In real life it's also unclear. I think there is a slot on the side burner housing that I tried to figure out how to put that in through, but I ended up just storing that part inside the...

Mystery Part: Can you identify it?

I think it goes with the side burner. I have one too, but I can't figure out how it attaches, so I think mine is just inside the side burner on my 3000. Somebody else will almost certainly know the answer to both questions, but I'm pretty sure it is used to attach the side burner to the frame...
