    Converting Weber Q to charcoal

Still have the issue of the leg attachment areas getting to hot and melting. Thus my suggestion of a metal leg frame. Fun thinking up all this stuff !

Yea, the vent setup is a bit odd. Tried to figure it out but no go so far. Just thought it was interesting.

Found-Where to find CGA replacement grates?

Flare ups should not be bad once you can put the lid on while cooking.

    Converting Weber Q to charcoal

Great idea. But most times I just want to have that particular model. I have a lodge sportsman grill and I use that grate on my charcoal go anywhere. But for sure I'll remember this. Thanks ?

    Interesting go anywhere stuff

Ok, understood. I have no experiance with the newer gas model so cant say much. Some folks like it, some dont. I still use my beater gas model with very rusted flavorizer and it does just fine. No it won't sear the heck out of burgers but it gets them cooked rather well so no biggy to me. At...

    80660 wire bail

In cleaning up, I found 2 wire lid bails for the smokey joe supreme ? These are for the taller handled smokey joes. Weber messed up my order loooong ago. These are just the wire bail and will work only on the taller handled ones. I was trying to get the correct shorter ones so that I could...

    Hillbilly Q Cart

Awesome ! I have an old frame from some gasser. Guess what I'm doing with it ? A cooking cart that I will use for various portable grills. One yours it seems if you take the folding tables off and make tables out of the frame that is present it would be bigger and more stable.

    Gas go anywhere grills

Well, found another gga in very good shape. One more that can be fixed up. So I actually have only one that is bad enough that it can be used for something else. Sadly, everytime I look at it I hear this voice saying " but what about me ? " in a plaintive voice. So I will finish up things and...

Found-Where to find CGA replacement grates?

Is that to be used as a lid hook clearance and a grease drain ? A bit puzzled on its position. I thought you had issues with hanging the lid off the backside.

Shoot, that looks great ! Question, is that deflector plate on the gasser, top pic necessary ? Seems you already have the flavorizer plate. Not sure of its purpose. Just saw a youtuber using the flavorizer plate or shield for indirect cooking using charcoal on a cga.

My first Smokey Joe and I have a question...

Yup, looks like it done just fine. Leave it open for hit coals, put the lid on for slow or indirect cooking. Been looking for another one but last one I saw was to far and to much. My other one is dedicated as a mini smoker. Bet you get to like it better with more cooks under yer belt.

Found-Where to find CGA replacement grates?

That is looking great. I think I have a cast iron griddle plate somewhere. So now I gotta go dig it up. Csnt do much in my shop right now because a stray cat that was familiar with us chose my shop to give birth. So now she has a nice bed, food, and all the necessary things a mom needs. My other...

    Best Color For A Q1200?

For me it would be red as my q220 is red. Sadly I waited to long and now the price is just to much for me to justify. Would love a q120 but qs around here are rare and overpriced. So for now it's the go anywhere.

If you go to youtube and look up sigtuna ted, he has a very short video of an interesting kabob setup on a charcoal go anywhere.

    Converting Weber Q to charcoal

I remember someone did not like the original charcoal tray and made a larger one. Cant remember from what but I assume some expanded metal would do. As to the lower vent, the hole for grease could have a sliding vent. Putting a vent on top would not be much of an issue. As to the grate, they all...

German or european gas go anywhere owners help.

It's slightly wedged under the burner tube at the ends. So basically friction is holding it in. Please note the seam or crimp on one side. This stiffens the whole length so it touches the whole length. Nothing wrong with the original one but it does involve more work. The second one does not.
