Actually it does, I did that to my "Budweiser" grill and vice versa as I put that short run 5 bar firebox (not Silver) onto a Genesis 2000 frame for my brother. A 13 bar firebox will fit into one of those thicker frames perfectly, no mods needed.
That's a nice grill because it has the beefier metal frame. I believe it still uses the same burners as the 1000-5000 (Weber 7506). The flavorizer bars are Weber 9913 and the grates are Weber 7639 (solid SS). Here is the schematic if interested...
Man that looks tempting, may have to get it for a Father's day gift. I think this one will fit the old school ones (1000-5000/Silver/Gold/Platinum)...?

Thanks Bruce! I picked up a set of those $38 grates for my cousin and he likes them over the stock grates that came with his grill. He has a Spirit II E-310 and it's a perfect fit. Grates look well made for being made in China and can't beat the price.

The Genesis II E335 at Costco is on sale for $799.99 for those of you interested. Not bad since you do get the Weber and Costco warranty with it. I'd think that there will more listings now for the old school Weber grills on sale on FB/Craigs/OfferUP, etc...in the coming months since the days...
Nice find! This guide should help you out if you haven't checked it out already...

BTW, the one with the blue hood is a Silver B and I think it's the special edition one due to the dual fold up tables. There are a lot of parts available for that grill unlike the 1000 due to it being the newer one of the 2.
The grill looks good in the pics but it's hard to tell the actual condition from pics alone. You'd have to go and check it out in person. One major area is to check for rust in the area where the firebox connects to the frame.
