Born and raised in Northern Jersey for the first 9 years, moved to Sarasota, FL for a year long family vacation (or so it seems) afterwards we moved and settled in North Atlanta for almost 40 years. Grew up in a family who enjoyed cooking and continued that tradition with my wife and two sons. I have been owned by two Golden Retrievers. Our first, Riker, was with us for 13 years and our current Golden,Riley, is now 5 years old. Both well trained to sprint at the sound of a chef's knife against a hone. They have dutifully kept the floor clean from any scraps that fell or were accidentally dropped from the cutting board. Looking forward to learning how to properly use my new smoker.
Favorite type of BBQ is Carolina Pulled Pork with a red slaw. Discovered Brining after purchasing the Performer. Purchased a Igloo Water Cooler that is dedicated to Brine Turkey's and large quantities of pork or chicken. So, Thanksgiving is at our house every year. Cornell Fire Dept Chicken is another favorite recipe.
My bride of almost 30 years is a great cook of side dishes and deserts. Harmony in the kitchen equals a long marriage is our theory. My FIL likes to arrive early at Thanksgiving to watch us work in the kitchen. He is amazed how fluid we are and we don't fight. I guess it is our version of a Chef's Table.
For us BBQ is about weekends family and friends watching the Atlanta Braves. Thankfully, the weather in Atlanta allows for year round BBQ, but, I have to imagine we would figure it out if we live in Canada.
