Good info thanks. I can see where the wires twist on the alligator clip. I’ll check the connector. It’s is from thermo works so it should be a decent temp probe.
Not sure. I’ve had troubles the last few cooks. Today same thing. Was reading really low then all of a sudden it started working. Read fine all day til I checked the coals than basically read about 35F. I don’t really know how to check the probe to see if it’s functional.
Hi Bryan,
Thanks for the reply. I believe I am on and older version. The last time I updated was at least a couple years ago. I am on the original hardware with I believe a Pi2 or whatever came with a composite video jack. The alligator clip had a bunch of crude in it from the dome thermometer...
I used my heatermeter today and had a weird temp issue. I ran to the store and when I came back the dome was at 375 and the probe, which is clipped to the thermometer, was at 135. When I disconnected it and left it outside, it was reading the air temp correctly. I know the dome temp was correct...
Hey All,
I've had my Heatermeter for about 4 years and used quite a few times. I've been using the Edimax WiFi adapter and have had hit and miss luck. Most recently, It will end up losing connection after a few hours. It eventually reconnects but it is very frustrating. Range isnt an issue...
Well I was waiting for the ip to show up and it hadn’t. I then tried HeaterMeter.com/devices and nothing. Went to the unify app and saw it listed but it had been up for a few minutes already. Oh well still need to figure out a back up solution because pulling it out of the 3d printed case is...
I believe it’s HM 4.2. PI is a model B and I’m using a Edimax WiFi adapter. WiFi network is ubiquiti. When it works, it’s flawless but it seems from time to time. It gets corrupted and will not work. I’ve tried reinstalling the image twice the second time formatting the sd card. And also the...
Is there a way to improve the reliability to the Heater Meter? It seems like ever 2-3 times that I use it, it won’t connect to WiFi. Which then means I have to pull the SD card and redo it. It’s getting old having to do this and it’s never at a convient time.
Not sure what the issue was but when I got my new Asus today I finally got it to work. It didn’t seem like it was taking the info from the SD card. When I went into the HM over wired connection I was able to get it to work. Although going in over wired on my temp router wouldn’t work. Anyways...
