I added a jumper wire from the 5v off the 5v reg to the 5v pin on the Rpi and it started working. I guess I might have somehow damaged the trace.

Hooked up with the 12v jack I see the correct 5v at the input to the 3.3 v reg and 3.3 v out of it but the 5v pins into the Rpi (24 and 26) are showing a few volts shy of 5v. The Rpi is not starting up(no lights no network connection).

Is the voltage drop on the 5v bus a red herring?
