Looks better than my current solution. Where'd you get that?

    Grill/BBQ Book

Franklin's book is a good resource. I also like Steven Raichlen's Project Smoke, Michael Symon's Playing With Fire, and Smoke & Spice by Cheryl and Bill Jamison. Someone recently gave me a copy of Meathead's book and one by Myron Mixon. I have just glanced at both and haven't really given them...

Purchasing a pellet pooper soon. EX6 or RT-700

Thank you everyone. After much deliberation I have decided to go with the Rec Tec. It will be a little weird seeing something other than a Weber on our patio, but everyone has that one weird cousin in their family so it is about time one joined mine.

Purchasing a pellet pooper soon. EX6 or RT-700

Great feedback everyone. Thank you. MDiBar, I did consider Traeger when I first started looking. I ruled them out due to two old, old being the key word here, high school friends who had Traegers and had considerable issues with them. One ended up with a Rec Tec, the other with a Yoder and...

Purchasing a pellet pooper soon. EX6 or RT-700

One other question.... It seems like pellet preference is all over the place. Is there a brand that folks here have been more impressed with than others? My friends seems to be equally divided between Lumberjack, CookIn and B&B pellets as their "go to."

I'm with you when it comes to being in the backyard while I cook. That is quality sunshine and beer drinking time.

Purchasing a pellet pooper soon. EX6 or RT-700

Thank you for the replies. As to the care and maintenance of the EX6, that isn't really off putting to me. I have a bit of OCD when it comes to my grills, well everything really, so that doesn't bother me at all. The searing aspect of the EX6 would be nice, but I have a couple of 22" kettles...

Purchasing a pellet pooper soon. EX6 or RT-700

Believe it or not my wife has been pushing me to buy a smoker. I know, shocking, but we moved cross country late last year and the WSM 22 I've had forever didn't make the trip. Don't worry though, it is in good hands with a friend. So now, with Spring approaching my wife is getting a hankering...

You should be making and selling those shelves. Nothing better than a beautiful, but functional, work of art.

Pulled the trigger - my wife's reaction

I'm showing my wife this thread. She thinks "you've lost your damn mind" because I have 3 kettles, a 22 WSM, a Genesis gasser(5 years old I think), and now want a Smokefire. I keep telling her I need more, but she thinks I'm crazy. Maybe this thread will prove how low key I really am when it...

Dave's Camp Chef Woodwind 36 WIFI Experiences

I'm in a similar boat. I've had a WSM 22 for a long time and have great luck with it. I've been looking at pellet poopers for a couple of years now and was 99% ready to get a Rec Tec RT-700, then the Smokefire announcement came. With that being the case I held off buying anything. When the SF...
