The other night we had some really Foul weather - temperatures were below freezing we had significant wind as well as precipitation falling. Horrible conditions to say the least . I had the 18.5" Weber smoker fully loaded with 60 pounds of pork butts. Pan was dry and foiled. Whenever the...
Last night I ran the smoker again - I've been using Chrome as my browzer. Tonight after I could no longer get to the configuration/login screens I switched to Explorer and it works snappy. Did I miss the memo on browsers? :D
Ralph - when I wasn't messing with it, the RD3 ran the entire 16 hours within about a 10 degree range on my new WSM '22 - I'm imagining that will tighten up even more after I get the gasket kit installed and the smoker develops a coating on the interior surfaces. With the straight fan setup, it...
What I've seen repeatedly is that my HM when it boots iit's readily accessible over the wifi network - no issues connecting to it at all, navigating the menus, etc.
Then what happens over time - on the local wifi network - if I click on anything to go into the settings it takes a long time or...
Hey Ralph - Finally doing my 1st RotoDamper Run - had 2 events tomorrow. A social for 45 people and a wedding rehearsal for 54. Cooking 3 whole briskets and 40lbs of pork butts. Have the butts and one of the briskets on the new RD3 setup and the new 22" WSM. Did the maiden burn in run on it...
Oh this is too funny. The fan blades got hot enough to start deforming/melting. And I know why - At one point the door fell off and I was watching the webpage and saw the temps spike up - I ran outside and the fire was going nuts and smoke was bellowing out of my 18" WSM like crazy. It went...
I was in the middle of a run and the blower just stopped on me. Anyone have this happen before? I plugged another fan in and it worked fine. Any tips on debugging them?
Are the standard blowers ok to leave outside? It was somewhat protected from the elements,...this is not an RD3 setup, it...
I swapped the RPi and installed the same SD card and with one the display is blocks, with the other it works correctly. No biggie. It was a spare RPi anyways, I'll debug the funky one another day :)
What I think is my last issue - when I look at your RD3 video your damper opens entirely and...
Interestingly enough - with it wired up incorrectly, at some point, the display went to solid blocks on the HM. When I switched RPi's to another one, it worked fine. Any ideas on what might have blown on the RPi?
I looked around and I don't see any P/N's on recommended SPDT switches - can someone point some out? :)
Thanks John for helping me understand how this all works!
For the 4 new jumper connections - I checked continuity and resistance from the originating solder joints on the HM board for the TC and the probes to their corresponding pins on the CAT5 connector on the RDTC board - all registered 0 resistance. I checked the grounds on both sides and went pin...
