Save 20% on ThermoWorks Pro-Series & select Type K probes

Awesome!! Damn thermocouple just played up and I wasted a pile of beef short ribs (was reporting 110C (225F), but grill was at 180C. ) My heatermeter and I had built up a lot of trust so I was used to going to the supermarket/movies/haircut so I never checked it, especially after an hour - my...

    New to HM. Suggestions?

I understand your confusion, I experienced the same thing before Christmas, the learning curve seemed high trying to get my head around it all but it wasn't too bad - I did get one of the guys here to solder it for me though . The Wiki, the forum and google should have what you need and if you...

    Rogue probe

Honestly I had no Idea they were so sensitive to water, when I cleaned them i got them really wet including the first part of the cable - So pretty much the worst thing you could do. Going forward ill just clean the bits I need to and be careful and i'm sure my probes will last just fine.

    Rogue probe

Thanks guys, Ill get some thermowork probe or 2 even just as spares. Out of curiosity, what are the most popular thermocouple models?

    Rogue probe

Thanks for that, I had no idea. I better order a couple more, probably get Maverick ET-72/73 this time. Do thermocouple probes have the same problem with water or do they break often? Just wondering if I need a spare one My Probes were the waterproof kind, go figure :)...

PitDroid: An Android app for your HeaterMeter

Loving the app, was lying in bed at 2am last night swapping between Pitdroid and my security cameras - It was great. I did have one config issue or maybe a bug I wouldn't mind checking on. I had an alarm set for when probe 2 reached 90C, I set it at 2am and went to sleep. When I woke up at 6am...

    Rogue probe

Yes, to both - I wash the probe ends after each use in the sink with water and a scrubber, then I store them in a zip top bag so its nice and tidy I think you're about to teach me something important...

    Rogue probe

Yes - sorry forgot to mention that important fact, I swapped it to port 3 around 2am briefly and it reported the same temp as port 1 - When the probe was plugged in to both port 1 and port 3 it showed the same incorrect temp. I know this makes it look like the probe is faulty, I just wanted to...

    Rogue probe

So I was doing a cook last night/this morning (3kg pork leg), this is my 3rd cook on my heater meter with new probes and one of my probes was acting strange. When I plugged it in it was reporting a temp of 45C instead of 14C and an hour later it jumped form 47C to 128C - it was all over the...

make sure you turn the contrast up on the screen as well, when I got mine and turned it on the screen was blank by default. You need to turn up that little screw bit.

    Post your live HeaterMeter Cooks

haha yeah thinks have been misbehaving but I think I've worked out why. The first fan spike was because I had the top vent closed way to much, once I worked that out it came right. The second I believe is because of my fan location - my vent is directly below the charcoal and has a elbow on...

Thanks, that microdamper is just awesome! I can believe how accurate this system is. I've played with a few settings but nothing seems to have been an improvement yet so I set it back but its really going great.

Hey Guys, Here is my first official cook, 1.8kg Pork Shoulder covered with Memphis dust and smoke with apple wood done on my Weber 22" kettle with a Smokenator and a heater meter with a Microdamper. I don't think I've quite got my fan settings right so if you see something weird let me know...
