    The LinkMeter Snapshot and YOU

Generally if the power input on the supply is specified as something like 120-240VAC you can be assured it is a switch mode power supply. If it is specified as 120VAC only it is probably a linear type supply. The switch mode supplies can easily modify their operation to accommodate a wider...

    The LinkMeter Snapshot and YOU

If you mean a switching power supply when you say "laptop style", I had lots of weird problems when using one of those. I have seen comments by others saying the same thing.

New 4.2 Build, Blower Output Voltage issues

After zooming in as far as I can on your picture, the far right lead of the FQU11P06TU MOSFET which is the gate pin that turns the device on does not look like it is soldered well (at least on the top side of the board). I would heat that up and add a little solder there. The signal that goes to...

New 4.2 Build, Blower Output Voltage issues

Pull your ATmega328 out of the socket and make sure that pin 5 did not get bent under the chip when it was seated. Sometimes when seating a chip in a socket the pin will curl under instead of going in the socket.

    Multiple HM vs. Stoker question

I have had a few occasions to do this, but I am not following your concept on this. Do you mind giving a little more info please?

    New build - No power

From looking at the schematic http://capnbry.net/linkmeter/pcb/hm-4.2/HeaterMeterPi.png it sure looks like your servo would function fine assuming the power supply you are using can supply the needed amount of current. The servo uses both the +5V and +3.3V lines in order to function and those...

    New build - No power

I have been known to keep and reuse the bubble envelopes that I receive shipments in as long as they are in decent shape...that would be the cheapest :) I have seen them for sale individually but I can't recall where it was. If you bubble wrap it well just put it in a large envelope. The...

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

I used my Micro Damper today while cooking a couple of chickens. I did not get the results that I wanted, but it was not the dampers fault. I got a later start than I wanted so I decided to cook the chickens at 300 degrees. The UDS came up to temp pretty quickly for me and I put the meat on...

I ship a lot because I am an eBay seller. If you keep the package under 13 oz. it can go First Class with 2-5 day delivery and the cost will be minimal. I use both the plastic bags (with item wrapped in bubble wrap) and the bubble envelopes and they both weigh next to nothing. The PayPal...

    New build - No power

You could probably ship it for about $2.00 using PayPal shipping First Class. The following link discusses it: http://www.ebay.com/gds/Secret-PayPal-Shipping-Labels-Stamps-off-eBay-Mailing-/10000000007215096/g.html

    New build - No power

I clean my iron tip after every solder connection...just get in the habit of quickly wiping it on the sponge between connections. It will become second nature and will improve your solder joints a lot. If you are going to put the iron down for any length of time put a little solder on the tip...

    New build - No power

If you want to remove the problem jack, you need to use solder wick to get all the solder off the pins. I know this sounds counterintuitive but if it is not wanting to wick well, add a small amount of solder right where the wick and iron touch and it will usually make it flow much better. Also...

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

I'm not sure there is enough clearance between the pins and they are fairly small diameter. The soldering is not that bad, but I would not want to build 100 of them! As you can see in the photos, I soldered the wires parallel to the pins. The problem is you need three hands so you can hold...
