    New Spirit E435

Weighing the tank is the most accurate as suggested by Larry. You would be better off putting the money in a second tank. Also, don’t start a cook if it’s low. Put the second full tank on. The Weber tank scale gives you an estimate. You can pick up the tank once you get a feel for it and get...

    Easy Off - Whoops :(

I offer low prices cause my costs are low. I enjoy completely cleaning porcelain enamel lids back to the new state which probably doesn’t make sense but I find that satisfying. Porcelain enamel control panels too. Don’t really get all that excited about plastic or wood. I appreciate some of...

    Easy Off - Whoops :(

I am shooting for a functional grill that’s clean to the touch. Silver B’s with faded black lids work for my customers. I don’t grind or sand blast fireboxes and flavor bars to clear metal, I just want to remove the last guy’s residue and “seasoning”. I paint the exterior of the firebox a...

    Easy Off - Whoops :(

Easy Off states not for aluminum. I read the directions after damaging aluminum. I was killing the emblems both the coated newer ones and older painted ones It’s also not good on painted surfaces regardless of the substrate Porcelain enamel and clear stainless - no paint or silkscreen - are...

Road Use Charge for Electric Vehicles

I stopped thinking about electric cars after I spoke to my insurance agent. I was quoted $8500 per year for a Tesla sedan for full insurance not the minimum requirement in Massachusetts

Road Use Charge for Electric Vehicles

I had a Prius about 12 years ago and could consistently get 50 miles a gallon without annoying other drivers too much. What was discussed was changing a per mile fee that you would be liable for once you went to renew a license or registration. That didn’t fly. What we see now in Massachusetts...

    Cook box bow fix attempt

I use Grade B or Grade C grease pan assemblies - rusted edges, various defects and use dollar store pan liners. Once they get too ratty I scrap them. I keep at least one pristine assembly in storage since I don’t want to end up in the no longer supported part scenario

    Cook box bow fix attempt

I have gotten a lot of grease fire victims on the grills I pick up. I will take any grill as long as it’s free. All of them were dirty and had buildup My personal experience is buildup in the big grease pan catches fire when cooking lamb chops or fatty pork chops. The grease catches on fire...

How can I get this back in the hole?

I heat them with a propane torch that gets them hot but not glowing red, remove the heat and spray with this then slowly move them back and forth with vice grips on the pin

How can I get this back in the hole?

I get it flush to the surface and tack weld the rivnut in place so it doesn’t spin Or I go up in size on the rivnut.

A welding alternative for us non-welders - or a scam gimmick?

I took a night class at the regional vocational high school that taught me the basics of welding. I can do some basic stuff to non critical items like putting in a patch or a brace. Not quite ready for nuclear submarines… I’m more comfortable with stick welding but I am using a flux core wire...

    2005 Genesis Platinum lid?

I have picked up probably 300 Webers over the last 8 years. Most were free and in rough shape. I noticed that a cover doesn’t extend the life of the grill. They rust and rot cover or no cover. It looks like keeping clean, letting them dry and keeping them away from concrete and pools helps...

    2005 Genesis Platinum lid?

I’m a no cover man. It’s like a shroud. My wife had an Amazon cover over the control panel

    Stainless Steel Platinum Cook Boxes

One theory - regular iron framed grills may have rotted out before they got the opportunity to have a thermal event.

    Stainless Steel Platinum Cook Boxes

I had 6 Genesis Platinum C’s. 5 had manifold fires that destroyed the control panel. All had major issues - warped fireboxes, rotten lid liners, rotten cabinets, etc. Granted most were free and the owner was done with them.
