My go-to briquette is Kingsford Original (I've tried all the others and didn't find the extra cost worth it; Costco Canada doesn't sell charcoal). To supplement, I use Buffalo Oak and Hickory charcoal, and lots of wood chunks (various sources).
Eventually I found all my grilling/smoking gear taking up too much scattered space, so built what we call the "BBQ Butler", a 48"W x 24"D x 40"H mobile storage bin with a serving top. The full width-and-6" depth top drawer can hold the grill skewer and a tool kit (among other things, gloves, lighter, tongs etc). Below is a fullwidth cabinet with one shelf that holds bags of chips and chunks and other weird gadgets I've collected over time.
Someone on one of my posts commented he was enthralled with Alberta beef; I agree, we're spoiled up here. Except there are only 4 months of decent BBQ weather.
