    LinkMeter v9 Release

Just loaded V9 with no issues. Good idea on the DHCP ethernet, that will help a lot when walking someone without computer skills though the process over the phone. Thanks Bryan.

Dead Heater Meter... I hate the rain...

Rob - good idea, just submerged the rPi in Basmati. The SD card is OK, it booted up the backup rPi, but I had already wiped the contacts with contact cleaner before trying it. Should have taken the HM apart when it came it wet/damp, but since it was still working, figured that all would be...

Brisket - BGE 12lb Brisket on a large BGE [/URL] Using an Auber blower, lump charcoal and pecan wood. BPID 4, 10, .02, 10. Put temp probes in both parts of the brisket. Wrapped in butcher paper during the stall. Started at 225, stepped up to 240, then finished at 250. My BGE has a hard time...

Dead Heater Meter... I hate the rain...

Another Rain Victim Left my HM outside, turned on Fri night and woke to unexpected rain on Saturday morning. It was working when I unplugged it and brought it inside but later in the day when I plugged it back in it had a garbled right side of the display and no network connectivity. Got the HM...

    WiFi with Static IP

I'm using a static address on Wifi for the same reason, and have not had any problems with it. Doesn't do much to help you solve your problem, other than knowing that it will work.

    LinkMeter blower???

I use a sony sf22c fan on a small Pitts & Spits offset smoker, which supposedly puts out 38cfm. I found it in a parts bin at the local electronics shop, but looking up the specs online it claims to draw .51 amps at 10V. My power supply is a 2A. As Dave says you don't need much fan to operate...

    Edimax Wifi Adapter Problem

Bryan, that sounds like the issue. I'll move him up to V7 then update the wifi per your instructions. Thanks - this was getting frustrating !

    Edimax Wifi Adapter Problem

Just recently built a second HM board to give to a friend. I tested the HM board by substituting in my working system, configured it for his wireless, and sent him home with the board and an SD card. He ordered the Edimax adapter, the RPi, power supply etc to finish out the project. When he...

    LinkMeter v7 Release

Updated to V7 and could immediately see the servo change, but couldn't get the PID parms to show on the main page. Then it dawned on me that it needs a pit probe plugged in to do any calculations. That is very cool. Just trying to save anyone else from the same mistake. Thanks Bryan

How many Heatermeter/Raspi built so far

Make it 55. I built a second one yesterday to give to a friend who already has an iGrill and a BBQ guru, but saw the HM/RPi in action and had to have one.

Doing my first real smoke using the HeaterMeter tonight on Brisket

Agree with Tom, there is a big difference between lump charcoal and briquettes, there is also less to clean up with lump. Jason - looks like you are in Austin, you might try B&B brand lump charcoal, Academy has it in stock all year long.

    Post your HM4.0 success here!

Ambient temp is not accurate because the bag is holding some of the heat from the HM, and picking up some heat from the smoker. It's Houston alright but we're only in the 70's today; it is winter. One feature of the ziplock which those fancy 3D printed boxes can't do is keep the HM dry such as...

    Post your HM4.0 success here!

First cook with the HM This pit gets little use because it is so hard to keep a stable temp. When the wind changes it affects the draw and therefore the temp. On Friday I did a test run without food to test the HM and the blower and tune the PID parms. Got it to hold temp within a few degrees...
