Need to clean up my old CB door. Any tips without scratching? Going to put an extra compression latch and a gasket on it and put it up for sale. Any advice appreciated. Thx. J

Tips on cleaning stainless steel(CB door)?

It would help if you cut post a picture for us to see what needs to be done. If it is covered in soot and grease I would start with Zep foaming degreaser and a blue (not green) scouring sponge. To get brown smoke varnish off it I would dunk it in pure white vinegar for 24 hours then use the same sponge I mentioned above.
That said, you can't hurt SS. If I want a brand new finish I use wet and dry automotive sandpaper and a flexible sanding pad going with the grain and rinsing often. It takes a while going through the different grits but by #2000 you can use the door as a mirror
. I'd start with #800 and go then go to #1000. I do this all the time to take scratches off my more expensive knives.
