Stoker on a large reverse flow (Lang Clone)

I am very interested in installing a Stoker on my home built stick burner. It's a large reverse flow offset similar to a Lang:

I built a fitting for an airflow pipe system (you can see the plug on the side of the firebox.) I have 2 pipes that thread into the fitting. One extends out and will provide attachment for a fan. The other extends under the grate inside with staggered holes to provide even air distribution under the grate. It's removable so I can use a stoker or the manual draft system.

I'm looking for feedback from users with a stoker on a large rig such as this. Any recommendations or feedback? Fan size suggestions?

How does the stoker work for you on a rig this size/type.

Thanks everyone for any info/ suggestions.

I used to run a Guru on an offset thought it was much smaller then this rig. Seems you'll have the same problem although a little more amplified.

As you know you have a wide degree of heat range in that unit. The question is where to place the pit temp probe. I would go towards the middle of the grate to get a good average between the left and right sides.

You are going to want a large fan as well. I think the Stoker guys would know what size you need.

Jason,

Read the StokerVersital thread. You can use the stoker to drive a relay that will controll an AC fan. Keep it below 15A and the box can be done for about $20. Of course you'll still need to find a fan, I'd go www.mcmaster.com for that.

I have a 25cfm blower on a Kingfisher backyard bonanza. It has taken some dialing in ...

I had to close off the opening between the firebox and cooking chamber to keep all the coals from ignighting at once.

I am going to try the blower pipe in the firebox next.

If you did not see this link in previous threads ....
