I do not know if anyone has done this or not but I will post this here anyways.
I got tired of the paper ring falling out the bottom of the chimney when I moved it around before or during lighting the paper.
I will not go through the trouble of posting a picture because it is simple enough to describe.
I simply drilled two holes in the bottom of the cylinder 180 degrees apart and slid a wire/rod in the holes. You could use a bolt and secure it with a nut but it works ok just sitting in there. You can easily slide the paper in with the rod installed if you want to secure it permanently.
