WSM 22" Extender

Hi,

I have a friend that does some fabrication. I've been thinking about asking if he could make an extender for the 22". Basically another middle section to double my cooking capacity.

Has anyone done something similar? Any thoughts?

What type of metal would be recommended?

Aloha Devlin - I was fortunate enough to find a NIB middle section, including grates about 18 months ago. It works great ... Haven't experienced any issues.

Glad to hear it's working well for you. Is the height unwieldy? Have you used it in comps?
 
I've got an extra center section like Joe, but I felt it was too tall to work with. Joe is happy with his, but I made a rotisserie ring out of mine.

I know you are looking for more capacity, but have you looked into any of the extra grate mods?

Stainless steel would be my choice, but that could be $pendy-take a look at the Cajun Bandit rotisserie rings for a quality build, maybe see if they would be interested taking on a new challenge.
 
Devlin, I have a Smoke-Ez and it seems to fit the 22.5 WSM just fine. I have not used it as such but tried the fit.
