Weber platinum

I have a seven year old Weber platinum. Two years ago I started seeing rust spots on the bowl. I contacted Weber and they sent me a new bowl free of charge. Now I'm seeing rust where the handle is welded to the top. Are these issues typical of Webers? I have three Weber models and have always owned Webers.

I have some slight surface rust at the handle on my 6 yr old OTG. That's just an area where the finish can't make good contact because of the spot-weld. I wipe it down occasionally with some oil.
