Remember to clean the grease funnel occasionally

I've been mainly using the Genesis Silver for bacon, sausages and the like for us and the kids.

I just boned out a few thighs for a quick lunch, dusted them and slammed them on.
I looked out of the window at the usual smoke from thighs - fine.
Just as I went to the grill to turn them over black smoke suddenly started really billowing out!
Turned the gas off and opened the lid - the catch pan was burning away with all the old charred remains and the fat that had been dripping onto it for however long.

The thighs were pretty good, though I had to remove the now black skin.
I left the grill lid up so the fat could burn off - it's now started a thunderstorm as I type so I guess the whole thing will be awash with goo!

Anyway - top tip occasionally do more than just change the foil tray.

Really good point here, I slow cooked some country ribs last week and forgot to do a cleaning afterward.
I fired up the grill and put some burgers on and the result was not great , I big pan fire,.
At least it cleaned it out for me...lol

Doesn't the grease drain away of its own accord? It seems that the inside contours of the fire box and slide in bottom are sloped to achieve this. Perhaps it requires a burn off following a cook to make that happen.
