Call Weber in either case under warranty or not. get a replacement ($30), then bolt on the handle and sell it on CL ($5 or $10). Campers use weber lids for covering their fire. These are folks that spend all summer camping

I just went through this with Weber this week - same model and even the same color. I emailed a picture to Weber support email address and they are going to cover it under warranty (lids have a 10 yer warranty). You just need to send them the serial number.

Here's how I fixed that problem (for about a buck).

I drilled out the rivet and then used a nut, bolt and two fender washers on each side to reattach the handle.

Are those lids even available? The new grills have the thermometer flush mounted on the lid.
