Pecan wood limbs...

I have come into possession of pecan limbs. How important is it that i remove the bark? I want to cut the limbs into disks and let dry for future use. Should I remove the bark? Thanks guys.

I just leave the bark on.

It's not that critical. If the wood is really dry it may come off on its own.

I never have removed the bark from any of my smoke wood..

I often use pecan limbs. If the bark falls off that's fine but if not that's fine too.

I use pecan all the time (from limbs too), no need to remove the bark. Sometimes it comes off when I am cutting the wood, but I toss the bark in with the wood anyways.

Or a chop saw (power miter saw).
Works very well to make smokewood wafers.
Make sure that the weird shapes are firmly nested against to fence for safe cutting !
