I just did one on Saturday. Foil lined empty stock water pan, high heat (stable around 400), top rack. 4 pounder, took about 1 hour 20 minutes. Came out great.
Thanks for the info. I was cooking last night and during the cook the 2 birds fell over. I should have used a Bud can instead of Coors LT. Anyway, the birds came out great in the end with crispy skin. Cook temps were from a low of 275 to 365 or so. I added 1 Weber Charcoal starter worth of hot coals maybe 1and 1/2 worth would have done the trick with two 5 lb birds
