Nut Allergy

I am highly allergic to nuts, nut extracts, etc. ...

Does anyone know, or have heard if pecan smoke will transmit nut protiens that would kick in the allergic reaction? Strange as it seems, foods cooked in peanut oil does not bother me!

I'v always advoided this wood.

Are you actually allergic to peanuts? Peanuts are legumes and not nuts. Not sure on the wood answer. Might want to call a doctor.

Yes on peanuts. I can eat coconuts and water chestnuts. Not sure about leche nuts?

Have you used Hickory wood ? If so then pecan would probably be safe - hickory and pecan nuts are similar I believe.

But I would advise checking with a medical authority just to be safe. Good Luck !
