Monore County style bbq sauce

This is a very regional favorite (in fact its all you will find) of the Dale Hollow areas of Kentucky/Tennessee. Its shares alot of the same ingredients of a NC style sauce but taste nothing like it. This recipe makes quite a bit but you could probably scale it back tho I have never tried, it does not last long at all. This makes a great mop as well as a sauce and is always served with pork. I hope you enjoy!

1 gallon cider vinegar
1 small can crisco
2 sticks of butter
1/4 cup salt
1/4 cup pepper
1/4 cup cayenne (more of you like it hotter)

How long do you cook it? Bring it to a boil and let it simmer a while?

Sounds great for pulled pork! Great mop for ribs! Probably pretty good on ice with a little splash of Knob Creek.

I totally forgot that part! Thanks for asking. Bring everything to a simmer for 30 min. This sauce has to be served warm or you get a clumping effect from the crisco. Be sure and stir well before serving.
