Missing mid section

So it's been like 6 months since my last smoked meal. It's not that i'm afraid of the weather, the wind took my smoker's mid-section somewhere and I never found it.

I can still use the remaining parts for grilling but I will miss smoked foods. I haven't called Weber as I imagine the price of the mid section shipped will be steep.

Let's say someone found my mid section, could they use it on top of a 18" kettle and have a makeshift smoker?

I need some suggestions
 
Call Weber anyway, they may cut you a deal on a replacement.

One of the life's lessons I taught my kids is: "You already KNOW the answer if you don't ask!"

Seems to apply here, as well.
