Japones?

Our local Wal-Mart has started carrying bags of dried peppers. I have picked up some Anchos, some New Mexican red peppers, and now they had some Japones. Of course, had to get some. Anybody know anything about them?

They are native to eastern Asia and are medium hot. They are grown in some spots in Mexico, which I assume is the source of yours. They are the chilies most used in Szechuan cuisine and are often used in SE Asian cuisines like Thai. They are similar to chiles de arbol in that they don't have much chile flavor but the heat is steady.
