Japanese Maple wood for smoking?

Anyone ever try using Japanese maple wood for smoking?
I've got a large japanese Maple tree in my backyard, I trim the branches this time every year. The branches are pretty big. I always have just burned them in the fire pit. Just dawned on me I might be able to dry out the wood and use it for smoking

Try burning some and smell the smoke. Some is good some is not as good, silver maple, not much good, red or sugar much better.
Test it.

If you want to quick dry it, cut it into chunks, and put it up in your attic.

Oh yeah, that's a perfect idea! I will for sure do that. Thanks! I also have a couple peach trees that I took down a few months ago, might have to do some chunking and make some trips up to the attic. Perfect place since I don't even use that area for anything
