I made a few changes though - I used probably about a heaping Tbsp of Penzey's Bold Taco, salt, probably a tsp of cayenne...... I ended up thinning the batter just a little with a touch more beer but my measurements weren't exact.
I was finishing up the rings when the first guest arrived - we had a few & then set them in the microwave to wait----then the bacon went on the grill...... everyone arrived we did the burgers quick. Normally I bank the coals but this time I had a single zone along the whole bottom.
The first ring that was put in oil - it splashed a little oil onto the coals & I was wondering how smart this was; I had a fire extinguisher nearby but still. I have a double-basket fryer but haven't used it for years.
