    WSM Cleaning 101

    I went and got myself a round pan to drop my grates in. I mix some degreaser, about 25%, with 75% water and toss them in there for a couple hours. Works like magic and the grates come out looking shiny and new.

    Well, I made up a big batch of it, rubbed down 2 pork butts and put them on the smoker half an hour ago with apple/cherry wood. Gonna sleep while my meat cooks.

    NOT the point. Obviously there are a number of us having this issue. It's a problem. They should fix the dang problem, not ask you how your food is turning out. Ridiculous.

    I have a very nice gas grill that I bought from Costco. It has 3 burners, a sear burner a side burner and a rotisserie burner. I usually use the side burner to light the coals in my chimney. 8^) Seriously... I think a gas grill has its place. I use my sear burner for steaks and the wife...

    Yes. My other 2 therms were calibrated in boiling water. Both read 211, so they are very accurate. The dome is reading 40 degrees UNDER. Heat rises. I'm no scientist, but the laws of thermodynamics say that if the grate is 250, the dome... which is higher... should read 250 or more. Now is...

    No worries, man. I'll be 41 in December, but my son is already 21. I'm still married to his momma, too! I retired after 20 yrs and 21 days as a Senior Chief (E-8). When I retired, I was working for a 3 star admiral, but that's as close as I got to "admiral". LOL!
