    Time Setting?

Still having this problem... It seems to reset the date to Jan 3, 2016 around 10am each time I boot. The "Sync with browser" button is the only thing that seems to correct it...but that's only until the next boot. Have a 14# butt on now: http://smokin.dawgbytes.com if anyone wants to follow...

Running a 15# (pretrim) packer cut brisket on my Big Joe. Hopefully coming out of the stall now...

yep -- i access it remotely (outside my LAN) all the time.

    Time Setting?

I do...with the correct Timezone setting. I can't remember the offset, but it seems to be putting me around 5-6 hours off, IIRC. I suppose I can put in an incorrect timezone to force the correct time.

    Time Setting?

I have to reset my time to browser time (and then, only from a computer...can't do it from iOS Safari?) every time I boot. None of the settings seem to hold. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Fan speed all over the place

The food was good, but some bites tasted a bit "fuely" --- almost as though there was a gasoline/lighter fluid type taste. This might account for why I was burning through so much lump also.

Thanks for the direction! I'll definitely give both a shot on the next cook!

Fan speed all over the place

Sorry sorry sorry, been dealing with a sick pup the last couple days and couldn't get back on to see the replies! The primary rig is a Kamado Joe Big Joe (I've also used it on my KJmini, but only a couple times). The RD3 is connected to a port that I've put in place from a piece of galvanized...

Fan speed all over the place

Every cook I've got seems to yield similar results to those in the pic. I cooked without the RD3 attached and my temp seems to stay fairly consistent once dialed in. I feel like I'm flying through lump with these cooks too... Ideas? Also, is there a way of downloading the PNG file directly...

And now a beef clod the same way...haven't done one of these yet. This one is on the Big Joe with firebox divider in. The butt I did on the mini. http://smokin.dawgbytes.com

I'm thinking there must be a flakey connection within the servo/cat5 punchdown which has been the root of my grief. For whatever reason, from about 8p-930p the fan was running with the closed damper. Double-tapping the "lid open" brought it back to fully open and as you point out, I can't...

Well...just solved part of the problem (at least for this cook): while the HM was running the fan at 100%, the RD3 was fully closed. Not sure how or why that was the case, but hopefully that'll get me up to temp again soon!

I've got a 9ish pound (pre-trim) butt on now... but I keep losing temp and I'm getting a bit frustrated. This is only my 3rd or so cook with the HM/RD3 and probably only 8th or so on the Joe and it's been much the same story as the previous attempts. Anyone with advice? Thanks...

PID Tuning...what am I looking for?

So I've got everything set up, put a fire in my Kamado Joe and enjoyed watching the temp climb up to the 300F set point. Then I dropped the set point to 275F and sure enough, the temp got down there too... Now I see it dancing right around 275 +/- 2F...the RD3 anywhere from 0-20% But as for...

so how are you attaching your blower to the smoker

Using an RD3, piece of 1" conduit compression connector (HD $1.13), and some shingle step flashing (HD $0.48) I cut out a piece of the flashing to fit my Kamado Joe bottom damper and put a hole in it for the conduit connector. Haven't cooked on it yet. Just put this together last night...

    No Ethernet/WiFi :(

Unfortunately (?) it's a brand new rPi. After going back to basics and troubleshooting from the rPi website with it...I'm thinking it must be a dead rPi. :(
