    Spirit 210 Curbside rescue

Thanks, I will look for less expensive bars. Luckily the grates are in great shape. I was actually looking at removing the bottom and removing the rust and repainting. It seems to be limited to just the left side. I dont really see much anywhere else. 🤞 My in laws dont grill much anymore, I...

    Spirit 210 Curbside rescue

My neighbor put a Spirit 210 at the curb, I just couldn't let waste management take it to the landfill, so I brought it home. After a quick inspection, it has some rust, needs new flavor bars, probably needs a new igniter , but overall it seems to be in good (but filthy) condition. I would like...

    Let me (re)introduce myself

I found this site a few years ago. My grill was literally being held together by duck tape and bricks. I wanted my new grill to be a Weber, but my wallet and husband were not happy with a $500+ price tag. After scouring Craigslist, I found a '97 Genesis 1000 for $60. After a quick "lipstick"...

Looking for a new grill brush

I have been looking for a new grill brush lately, something that can stand a lot of use and can be washed/sanitized. I was shopping online and came across 2 possibilities on The Grommet. Once is an Oak paddle, the other is a grill brush, with a twist. Prices are not too bad but they are so...

    garlic peeler

I have had my garlic peeler for years and love it. It comes in handy for opening small jars and beer bottles too. My favorite garlic "trick" is to buy a large jar of peeled garlic and pop the whole thing in the freezer. It will last 2-3 months and are pretty much defrosted my the time I am done...

    Fresh Versus Frozen

I am a couponer, so when I see a deal, I stock up. Personally I find previously frozen meat is more tender. When you freeze meat, the moisture becomes ice crystals and can help tenderize meat. How you freeze the meat matters. I buy frozen whenever possible, because this meat is frozen using a...

Grilling some steaks on my first rehab

It was the last thing I used after using a scraper where there was only a few rough spots left. I started with 60 grit and went up to 220. I found wrapping the paper over the edge and using the edge to apply more pressure worked great. I was able to get a much smoother surface. Wearing a mask is...

Grilling some steaks on my first rehab

A few weeks ago I had bought a '97 Genesis 1000 off CL for $60. I wanted a Weber, but I am cheap - $500+ just was not in my budget. I found this site and y'all gave me the courage to rehab me a grill. There was minimal rust on the frame, and the firebox and burner tubes were in great condition...

Stainless Steel Grates Or Grillgrates For My Genesis 1000 -- Your Thoughts

I just picked up grates for my rehab. I found a brand new set of the porcelain coated cast iron grates on CL for $35. It's part# 9888 and looks like it's been discontinued. They are much more substantial than the ones I was saw at Home Depot. Jayde

    My neighbors are amazing!

Our riding mower is having issues and our grass was getting high. Seriously, we became "that" house on the block. Yesterday the hubbs and I spent about 3 hours trying to get it started. We gave up and decided to call my neighbor on Monday who lives around the corner and owns a landscaping...

Stainless Steel Grates Or Grillgrates For My Genesis 1000 -- Your Thoughts

I have been torn between the two as well. Actually I am torn on the price of either of them. I'm cheap, which is one of the reasons why I went down the used/rehab route to begin with. Plus I am not in the mood to hear the Hubbs gripe that the rehab is costing close to buying a new grill. After...

What to use for the work table brackets?

Thanks! I'll give the naval jelly a shot. I am not sure they all can be saved, as I took them off the grill a few of them started falling apart. Saturday I am going to be hunting around the hardware store looking for a fix.

What to use for the work table brackets?

The frame is just fine, no rust. All of the brackets are like this so they must have been taken off the grill and left out in the weather. The guy I bought it from said the grill was sold with the house when he bought it and used it for 2 years before replacing it.

What to use for the work table brackets?

I just started my first restore of a Genesis 1000 and need some help. The brackets that the Durawood is screwed into is completely rusted. I called Weber, and they do not have this part available. What can I use for a suitable replacement? Thanks!

    Another Texan! (well, sorta...)

I was raised in the Lone Star State, but am currently exiled in sunny South Florida. If it wasn't for the great diving here, I would head back home where they have real food. I love grilling and just bought my first Weber. It's a diamond on the rough that I just started to restore and am...
