The 2000-2001 Genesis Gold has three lid color choices, black, green, and burgundy. The Genesis Platinum had the SS lid as well as an enclosed card wth SS doors.
I didn't do as deep of a dive as I wanted to and rushed the painting process, but overall I ended up with a great working grill. As per LMichael's suggestion, I replaced a majority of the hardware with SS. I broke a few of the self threading nuts when taking appart the lid, but found replacemens...
The 2000-2001 Genesis used flavorizer bars that were 23 3/8" long, part number 9913. I've never tried the standard bars (22.5", 7537) or measured the inside of my grill to see if they fit.

I'm still finishing a restoration of same grill, based on your description. One thing I...
I've been cleaning up a 2000 Genesis Gold C. I reassembled the grill today and adjusted the burners to get an even blue flame. With all 3 burners on high, I can get a grate temperature 500F, from 70F, in 4 minutes as measured by my Maverick. The lid thermo reads about 50 degress less.
Does...
I still believe the lid on the Genesis will be difficult/tiresome for them to open/close. If you haven't already, run to a Lowe's or HD. They typically have these grills on display. I found that the Broil King Baron had about the easiest lid to open and close, ]when compared to the Spirit and...
