SOS help needed asap

Im setting up my 18.5 for an early morning smoke that will prolly take most of tommorrow, my question is, I have the charcoal ring so full that my water pot will not sit down in there, has anyone ever sat the water bowl on top of the lower grate? or would that not be the thing to do. I don't think it can move as it will rock side to side and not tip over, or is it to close to the meat?

Not sure what you're cooking but just move your coals to the sides. If that's not enough, take some out.

I had the same issue the first time I used mine. My suggestion - get the Brinkmann Charcoal pan. It's shaped more like a pan than a bowl so it doesn't dip down so low toward your coals. And it still holds just a shade under 2 gallons of water. If you decide to go this route, make sure you order the charcoal pan and NOT the water pan. The water pan is smaller and will not fit.
