Post your live HeaterMeter Cooks

Dave Smith - Looks like a super stable cook! Are you using a servo damper? What blower and PID parameters are you using?

Sorry just saw this...........I was using just a blower, no servo with stock PID's, fan at listed settings - 10%. I'm working on a servo at the moment, hope to have it working soon.

Ribs on the smoker...I'm not using any of the meat probes - just the pit temp.

I'm doing the "Best Ribs In the Universe" recipe, so you should see the temp bump up in a while. I'm not sure what kind of swing the blower fan can do by itself, so I may need to open up one of the other vents a bit...I guess we'll see what happens.

Hey Dave, not sure if you're aware but we can't access that URL since it's a non-routable address for your internal network only.

Put a Pork Butt on at 5:30 pm yesterday and Heatermeter has been doing it's excellent thing as usual. Had to reposition the food temp probe at 6 am as it was in a hot spot but not done yet. Only 4 hours to go on the XL BGE,

Took Butt out at 187 as most other parts were in the 190's. Here's the graph of the almost 20 hour cook. Heatermeter rocks!

Check ambient temp form wireless it is 102.3 deg f today
Compare thermocouple to rtd probe, ET&# is driving the damper. TC just monitoring.

Thermocouple board got squiggly temp line when central air turned on, changed from transformer to switching power supply and got a little more stable.

Real solid cook, the PID settings I used were great (Thanks Steve M). The only issue I had was a little trouble recovering from a lid open event which was frankly a bit long given that I was foiling up a 7 or 8 short ribs individually. In hind sight I should have taken them all of, shut the grill, then foiled, then opened the grill and put them back on.

The end of the cook was me messing around with pulling them off, unwrapping them, etc. I was less worried about temps here as I was largely just letting the fire go nuts and just touching them up out of the foil.
