Grate probe Placement

Should be the grate probe be placed at the enter of the grate or toward the edge to monitor temp on the WSM ?
 
I place mine as cloe to the center as possible without being directly under the meat. If you put it toward the edge you'll be getting the temp of the heat coming up the side wall of the cooker which will be considerably hotter that the temp at the grate (this is assuming your using some sort of heat diffuser).
 
I place mine on the top side of the grate, next to the meat without touching it. It is at the same height as the meat that way and it seem to work well.

After some experimentation, that seems to be the best for me as well. Not too close to the meat, but not way out at the edge either.
