Local grocery chain has 10 lb rib "flats' on sale for $9.97 this week.

I understand there is not much meat on these ribs ??

anyone cook/smoke this type of rib ?

Any thoughts or inputs etc appreciated ?

Thanks

Rib flats?? I think they're probably regular spare ribs as opposed to baby or loin back ribs. If so they're actually meatier than a baby back. Check this site for photos and instructions for trimming and smoking.

I would pass on these, for sure.
They may have a funky smell, and never have much meat.

I haven't seen them yet, they may be rib tips.

I tried to research it a little on the web, and somewhere I read there was very little meat on on the "Flats" as they were refered to?

Another grocery chain has "Spare" Ribs on sale for $1.99 per lb., probably just go and get those.

Happy Smoking !!!

Thanks for your inputs.
